Tom

Tom was number 12 of the 14.

Tom or Tommy worked in Mayfair and was popular with people of all ages and backgrounds.

He made a number of trips back home and to us he was like a millionaire. He stayed with my parents Joe and Marguerite in Newry and bought “candy” for all the local children.

When the bread-man saw him smoking American cigarettes outside the front door Tom asked if he would like to try one. Instead of handing him one he gave him the whole packet and made the bread-man’s day.
